A2 Lingos
Screenshot
An image created on a digital device of something that is showing on the screen at the time the image was taken. Screenshots are very handy for a variety of uses, including developing visuals, troubleshooting problems on the digital device, and as a strategy for combating cyberbullying.
Full Screen Shot
Take a picture of everything on the computer screen.
Select/Partial Screen Shot
Allows the user to to take a picture of just part of the computer screen that they want.
.PDF
PDF stands for Portable Document Format. This type of file format is beneficial because it can be viewed by just about any type of computer or digital device with a simple .pdf reader program which is free.
Digital Publishing
A general term for any type of file or digital production that you can create from productivity software. For the purpose of this class, we will include word processing, spreadsheets, slideshows/presentations, and webpages in the classification of digital publishing.
Text Formatting
The many ways you can change the appearance of and control the position of text on a page. These ways include font, text size, text coloring, and text styling.
Font
The special artistic style that the text is printed in as you type it on your screen. There thousands of different fonts in existence.
Text Size
How big or small the text appears on the document or text box. Text size call also be affected by the font you chose.
Text Styling
These settings can change the way a font appears in the text. Text styling includes bold, italics, and underline, with some other options available as well.
Text Coloring
The color in which the text appears on the document or text box.
Text Box
An object in a slideshow into which text can be entered to appear on a slide. Text boxes can be many different sizes, and slides can have as many text boxes as needed. The text in each text box is independent of others, and can be formatted in any way the creator wishes from the formatting tools available. Text boxes have 2 modes to them, Edit Mode and Select Mode.
Shapes
Anything that you can draw in a digital publishing application. These include lines, circles, boxes, word balloons, etc.
Handles
These are the size control tools for shapes, images, and text boxes in many different drawing and productivity apps. They are usually small squares in the corners and midway points of the sides of frame of the object.
Color Fill
The control that sets the inside color of a shape. Usually this control is represented with a paint can in the control bar.
Border
The outer sides of a shape or other object in a productivity app. The formatting controls for the border of a shape are usually separate from the formatting controls for the color fill.
Rotate
With shapes, this is the ability to spin a shape in a way that the creator would like. This is particularly useful for arrow shapes.
Line Enders
These are the options for how a line that you draw can be at the start and finish of the line as you draw it. They can be at either end of the lines, and can be different.

A2 Focus Skills & Questions
- How does someone take a full screenshot on an Apple computer? How about on a Chromebook?
- How does someone take a partial screenshot on an Apple computer? Chromebook?
- Where are the controls to create a PDF typically on a computer?
- Why is a .pdf copy of something useful?
- How do you know if you are in Edit Mode or Select Mode for a Text Box/Shape?
- Name the three main controls of text styling.
- What do we call the little squares that are on a text boxes and shapes that allow us to change the size and shape of it?
- Name 3 ways that line or shape can be changed in appearance.
- How many different line end options are there for lines in Google Slides? Can they appear on both end of the lines?
- Can a border be put on a text box? Can its fill be changed?
A2 Practice
Recreate the slide below practicing the skills that were demonstrated in the Level 1 tutorials. Use the desktop computer image to the right as your labeling image. You will need recreate this in your digital notebook on the A2 Learning Target/iCan slide.

Part 2: Take a moment to add these images to the appropriate FSQ slide (1 & 2). Be sure to label the Mac Full Screenshot Control and the Mac Partial Screenshot Control.
Part 3: Now search the Web for an image that demonstrates the keys for a Full Screenshot on your Chromebook AND the keys for a Partial Screenshot on your Chromebook. Add each image to the appropriate FSQ slide. Be sure to label the Chromebook Full Screenshot Control and the Chromebook Partial Screenshot Control.

A2 Performance Task
Instructions:
- For the A2 Performance Task activity, you will need to take the image below and add it to a slide in Google Slides. You may create the slide in your digital notebook or in a separate Google Slides file.
- Title your slide: "Mac Screenshot Controls: Lab 16 Workstations"
- On the slide make 2 copies of the image. Label one Image "Full Screenshot Control Mac" and label the other control "Partial Screenshot Control Mac".
- Use Shapes to highlight the NUMBER keys you need to press for each screenshot control from the keyboard at your workstation.
- Label the other keys needed to complete the screenshot.
- Label each key using arrows and text boxes that name the keys. You may also use callouts/word balloons if you wish.
- Create a PDF of this slide. Name the PDF file as follows "s2_ylnA2PT". Remember to put your hour in the blank and replace the yln with your last name. If you have the same name as someone else in class, be sure to include your first initial after your last name. Note that there are no spaces in the naming of this slide. Example: s21rogersA2PT.
- Turn in your PDF into the A2 Performance Task Activity in Google Classroom.
